15 Hacks To Eat Organic Food

1. To make it easier to understand, organic food mainly comes from farms that use no pesticides. Now that we understand that, the organic food that you want to consume should come from a reliable source that doesn’t use toxic chemicals, sprays, or toxic pesticides.

2. It is also important to know the source of water that farms use. Whether it has synthetic chemicals, polluted or it simply comes from a reliable clean source without any pesticides. It is advisable that your own drinking water source is extremely important to avoid diseases in your family. 

3. In fact, organic foodstuffs are produced without synthetic fertilisers, it grows at its own pace, gets natural fertilisers and nutrients available in the soil. They don’t need to boost up growth and be presented on your table fast, it takes time to grow in a natural way. All fruits and vegetables are therefore harvested at full maturity, delivering the ideal natural taste we all love.

The other important effect on the environment is that by producing synthetic fertilisers, farmers need to use more energy (causing Energy Wastage), compared to planting and harvesting organic fruits and vegetables. This will enable us to fight against water wastage, energy wastage, resources such as spending more money on pesticides etc. 

5. Children are much more susceptible and sensitive to pesticides in food than adults, this in the long run causes severe food allergies, health threatening diseases. These calculated risks can be avoided by switching to healthy and organic food for the whole family.

6. By consuming organic food, we are indirectly protecting our soil, that is the source of ingredients in our food chain. When our farmers use chemicals and monoculture intensively this causes impoverishment of our soil by destroying its micro-organisms. This is our farmers’ job to fight back against the use of synthetic fertilisers, pesticides and unsafe water in their farms and switch to the natural way of living, by planting and harvesting organic food. This will save our planet in the short run as well as in the long run.

7. Genetically Modified Organisms otherwise known as GMOs use synthetic fertilisers, and pesticides to expedite plants growth, thus maximising profits in the short and long run. Eating organic food simply helps reduce consumption of GMOs and encourages eating more and more organic, chemical free food that includes your favourite fruits and vegetables, garden salad and your favourite healthy pasta.

8. People usually think that organic food is more expensive, that is true, but in some cases it is only slightly more expensive. We have witnessed that lately big chain supermarkets offer sections for organic food at competitive prices as there is some competition in between these major stores. There are always healthier choices out there, you need to be patient and read the labels, decide for yourself which products suit your lifestyle better. The best way to overcome this is by avoiding the middleman and buying directly from farmers in major city, suburban or rural farmer’s markets. Another beauty about eating organic food is helping rural communities grow out of poverty, giving them a chance to grow organic fruits and vegetables, and helping rural farmers take hold of their once wrecked farming. You are also helping to avoid industrial agriculture that has no benefit to the local community. If this is practiced regularly, it helps shape a brand new community that is full of life, not only in the countryside but also in the suburbs and city level. It encourages sustainable farming strategies that will keep going with little help from governments.

This way of life also encourages a futuristic lifestyle, saving a better tomorrow for the next generation, sharing the goodies with our future generations to come, based on sustainable development. We come and go in this world as guests, so let’s save it for other guests to come and enjoy as much as we did, if not more, before they leave their spots for the upcoming gerenations.

11. It is also a great idea to start your own vegetable patch in the backyard. Start small, stay focused, grow your patch slowly but steadily. Add on new fruits and vegetables that are easy to maintain but also those that you and your family love the most. Eat Organic Food and see the changes for yourself.

14. Visit farmer’s markets more often to remind yourself that this is your new go go zone, you only prefer organic food. Say hi to your local farmers and get to know them, talk to them about your preferences and how you want to help and support them.

15. Last but not least, think of the future generations before you go shopping. Set your mind that you will go to the organic section and buy healthy food choices and stick to the plan every time.
