With so much stress and hectic lives that we have, we need to take a little time to ourselves. We need to focus on more important things that really matter to us. Throwing a party is probably one of them. Catching up with family and friends is one that should be repeated 3 to 4 times a year, just to show them how much you care about them. Family party hacks could help you money and time.
It doesn’t alway have to be at your house, help a friend to organise one at their house or maybe choose a picnic area, or a park with barbeque and toilet facilities. While celebrating traditional festivals such as Christmas, New Year’s Eve and Birthday parties are important, let’s put some importance on family reunions, house warming parties, annual catching up parties etc.
That way, you are in the loop and when there is a party, you are invited and in some cases, your opinion on how to organise it with friends and family is actually appreciated. So make sure you are the backbone of your close family and friends’ parties.
Here are a few hacks and tips to consider and avoid while throwing a party. If taken into consideration, you will enjoy any party more than anything else.
Things To Consider:
- Invite The People You Know:
Inviting friends and family members that you know is so important. You know what they like, what they don’t like, what they expect at a party and so on. You know what to avoid in order to stop conflict of opinions. You also know what topics to discuss with them and what music you all enjoy.
- Have A Specific Start & Finish Time:
Be specific when you invite people to a party. It is specifically important to have a closing time announced in advance so that the visitors know what time to leave. Get started on cleaning about 15 – 30 minutes before closing time and encourage them to help clean up. In a way, you are promoting this new culture into upcoming parties.
- Use Disposable Tableware:
Using disposable plates, cups, tablecloths, cutlery etc. will save you time and effort washing up for hours after the visitors are gone. Use large garbage bags to collect all the disposable items and throw them away when you are done. This is considered one of the best family party hacks.
- Get Them Involved:
You don’t have to do everything yourself. Get your friends to bring a thing or two on their way, such as a bottle of wine, some beer, disposable napkins, dessert, ice cubes etc. Also get them involved in preparing and cooking food as well as cleaning up at the end. This way, your party will be the easiest to organise.
If kids are coming, make sure you get them busy with positive activities. Get a responsible teenager or an adult to supervise them. Make sure they are not exposed to illicit activities and check on them from time to time.
- Plan The Next Party & Pass On The Organiser’s Name:
Make sure, everyone knows who is organising the next party and when. A few days before the party, give them a call and discuss the details. In case there is an emergency, help them reschedule it for a later date and everyone is informed accordingly.
Things To Avoid:
- Avoid Weekdays:
It is hard to get people to attend a party during the week so make sure that your party is scheduled on a convenient day of the weekend. Enjoy this and other family party hacks.
- Avoid Offering Too Many Drinks:
Inviting people just to drink is not wise. Having a few drinks in moderation will keep the environment friendly and encourage responsible drinking. Also make sure drugs and alcohol are not abused in your party. You just don’t want to get into an argument with a drunk person who would eventually ruin your party.
- Avoid Political Arguments:
One of the worst things that could happen is to get into political arguments with your friends or family members. Some people have strong political views and are waiting for an opportunity to get started and defend those opinions no matter what. Simply avoid it in the first place.
- Avoid Complete Strangers:
You don’t want a complete stranger in your party anyway. Why? Because you don’t know who they are, what they think, what their criminal records are like and whether they abuse drugs and alcohol. They could simply ruin your party, so why not avoid them in the first place?
If you throw a party, think of it this way. How does it benefit you and those invited? Are you trying to impress someone or is it simply for fun? Are kids involved? If so, what things to avoid to keep the moral of the party ethical.
Get your friends involved from costs to preparing food and cleaning up. At the end of the day, you are all enjoying it together. Avoid excessive drinking, drug abuse and complete strangers and discourage political agenda to avoid arguments. If you follow these golden rules, you are heading to heavenly parties every time. Enjoy your next party!
